Supplemental Supplemental insurance policies are designed, as their name suggests, to SUPPLEMENT primary health plans. This is done in various ways but the most common is by providing benefits [usually cash] directly to the insured – not to the provider. It can act almost like a reimbursement tool triggered by a specified occurrence. These types of policies help fill in the gaps that other policies might leave behind like deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses, lost wages, transportation, lodging and other expenses that would normally not be covered by traditional health plans. These policies respond to very specific needs and are not normally expensive. They can be a great asset when properly combined with high deductible primary health plans. Following is a list which includes the most common listing of supplemental insurances.
